Sweetwater Sahme, LMHCA

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

Sweetwater (she/her), a Pacific Northwest Native, obtained her Master’s degree from Portland State University in 2022. With an insatiable appetite for wellness, Sweetwater is passionate about enhancing everyday life and supporting her clients. During her free time, she immerses herself in podcasts, books, and training sessions focused on mastering healthy relationships, achieving financial independence, and the transformative benefits of organizing and decluttering spaces to foster balance and beauty.

As a dedicated mother to a lively four-year-old, Sweetwater actively engages with her community and advocates for holistic wellness. When not working, she treasures moments spent with family, explores scenic hiking trails leading to waterfalls, and indulges in the invigorating rhythms and movements of Zumba.

As a licensed associate mental health therapist her primary goal is to offer culturally sensitive and intuitive healing, empowering individuals within a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. Sweetwater integrates interventions and techniques from diverse modalities such as person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness practices, and strength-based approaches.

My Approach To Therapy

As an Indigenous therapist, my objective is to provide culturally sensitive and holistic healing to empower individuals, families, and communities. Drawing from a deep understanding of traditions, values, and intergenerational experiences, my aim is to cultivate a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space where individuals can flourish. By incorporating empathy, active listening, and empowerment in my practice, I strive to create a warm and nurturing environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued. My intention is to cultivate a sacred environment where individuals can access innate healing power, reclaim ancestral knowledge, and build skills to increase resilience in the mind, body and spirit.

My academic background in marriage, couple, and family counseling, combined with hands-on experience within internship, has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic modalities, counseling techniques and working with a variety of individuals. I specialize in a personalized approach to therapy, which involves person-centered, acceptance and commitment, mindfulness and strength based therapy approaches. I firmly believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to offer support and guidance as you navigate your unique experiences and aspirations. With a curious and open-minded attitude, we'll explore various topics that arise in therapy together. During our sessions, we'll collaborate to establish personalized goals, and I'll assist you at achieving them at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I specialize in working with individuals aged 13 and above, adults, couples, and families. My services are exclusively offered through telehealth therapy to accommodate flexibility and the demands of busy schedules. All you need is a stable internet connection and a private space where you can speak freely. Babies and toddlers are always welcome in our space. Evening and weekend openings available.
